LA 82 travels through coastal marsh in southwest Louisiana. Long stretches of wetlands are interrrupted by the higher ground of oak cheniers named Grand Chenier, Pecan Island, North Island, Cow Island and Forked Island. In 2002, I photographed the remains of animals struck by automobiles along this remote highway. On 1 May 2011, traveling home from a birding excursion to Cameron, LA, I comtinued the documentation of roadkilled wildlife on LA 82 along 50 miles from Grand Chenier to Forked Island. The 2002 photos can be found here.
