During our hike Zu received a cellphone call from her husband who was working their land high above Hầu Thào. When she hung up she told me her husband was just heading home from the fields to cook rice for lunch, and she almost apologetically asked if I would mind waiting to eat until the end of our trek, where I could share lunch with her family in her home. Of course, I was thrilled. She thanked me, indicating it was better for her not to have to buy my lunch. Here Zu's husband prepares our lunch in their kitchen. (sa1846)
