| Zu's son (his name sounds like jang with a soft j) works on a paper airplane after lunch. As is typical among the Black Hmong and other ethnic minorities in the area, Zu's husband speaks no English, and it is the women who try to learn English so they can guide trekkers and to facilitate the selling of their local wares (clothing and blankets) to tourists. Zu has taught her son a few words of English. (sa1862) |
