Sapa (or Sa Pa) is in extreme Northwest Vietnam, in the Hoàng Liên Son Mountains. This range, sometimes referred to as the eastern tail of the Himalayas, contains Fansipan (Phan Xi Păng), the highest peak in Indochina at 3,143 meters (10, 312 ft).
